Participants learn and practice the 4 skills training modules: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Mastery of the skills generally requires 6 months or more of skills training.
Practicing therapists are Tena Roethle (Northfield Office) and Allison Quast (Edina Office). Please contact either therapist directly to set up an appointment.
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) skills is structured to teach healthy coping skills to persons struggling with emotions, relationships, and/or impulsivity.
During therapy, members will identify ‘target behaviors,’ and learn mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance skills.
Clients learn cognitive behavioral and mindfulness skills to better identify and manage their emotions.
They then practice applying these skills to better tolerate difficult life events and improve their ability to interact effectively with others.
